Thabazimbi – Two men were each handed life sentences after the Thabazimbi Magistrates’ Court found them guilty of a 2019 incident in which they threatened a woman with a firearm before taking turns to rape her.

Lephalale – ANC members reportedly involved in a shooting incident during a branch general meeting (BGM) in Lephalale on 19 June are likely to face criminal charges and disciplinary action from the governing party. Taxi wars frustrate mineworkers
Northam – A dispute between rival taxi associations negatively affected the mobility of local mine employees. On Tuesday 15 June, rival taxi operators from the Northam and Thabazimbi taxi associations blocked the road between the R510 and Chromite Smashblock following disagreements over operating routes.

Truck brings traffic to standstill
Thabazimbi – A truck swerved off the road and landed in a ditch on the Amandelbult road at the turn better known as ‘Stinkdraai’ just outside Thabazimbi on Thursday 6 May. Traffic came to a standstill as it took several hours to pull the truck out of the ditch.

Today 11 years ago Cop arrested for attempted murder on farm
On Monday 24 May 2010 Rebecca Malethokwa Mfisa and two other suspects appeared in the Schweizer-Reneke Magistrates’ Court, charged with attempted murder. Rebecca Maletlhokwa Mfisa, (then 34) was arrested on Friday 21 May after she and three men allegedly shot at a farmer on his farm outside of Schweizer-Reneke, Lieutenant-General Lesetja Ephraim Beetha said. A 36-year-old farmer arrived back at his farmhouse on Friday evening when he was shot at as he got out of his car. The farmer reacted immediately and returned fire upon which the suspects fled the scene.
