Life for rapists

Thabazimbi – Two men were each handed life sentences after the Thabazimbi Magistrates’ Court found them guilty of a 2019 incident in which they threatened a woman with a firearm before taking turns to rape her.

The victim was hitchhiking along the R510 on the 23rd of April 2019 when the incident occurred. 
The two men offered her a lift in their vehicle and took her to a secluded spot along the R510 road to Prospecturs, where they raped her.   

The court also declared Tumelo Mataboge and Luckyboy Motlhomi, unfit to possess a firearm.  
An attempt by the two to flee the crime scene was foiled by police detail who were patrolling the area. Constable Thabiso Anbrey Seshoka of the Northam Detective Unit gathered enough evidence for the successful prosecution and sentencing of the two.
