TLM’s IDP public participation meetings

Thabazimbi – The Thabazimbi Local Municipality’s (TLM) 2019/2020 integrated development plan (IDP) public participation meetings kicked off on a high note on Saturday, 16 February, with residents showing a clear indication of what they expect from their municipality. 

The meetings were held at the Smashblock sports grounds, Regorogile extension 2’s community hall, Kumba Bioscope Hall, Jabulani, Northam’s old TLC office and the Northam lapa.

Issues of water, electricity, road infrastructure maintenance, proper and accurate billings, refuse collections, maintenance of sporting facilities and maintenance of street lights were some of the issues that were raised sharply. Residents actively engaged the municipality on their ward-based plans and issues. 

Some residents offered their advice to the municipality on the development planning and processes of their wards, of great importance and encouragment to the municipality. Residents took the opportunity and appealed to the municipality to include them more on budget and planning.

“The platform that has been created, will definitely assist in improving service delivery within our municipality,” said TLM mayor John Fischer in his remarks.

He further said that the issues raised will be attended to by the relevant departments and feedback and progress will be given back to the community.
