Nature awareness at Thabang Centre

Thabazimbi – On Sunday 17 February, a team from mining contracting and engineering firm, Redpath Mining South Africa, visited Thabang Child and Youth Care Centre – an organisation that caters for youths and orphans. 

The Redpath team spent the day carrying out various art-based activities that focused on educating the youth on the abundant  bird wildlife in the Thabazimbi area, and the importance of nature conservation.

The Redpath team, together with the youths, painted and created mosaics of various bird feeders, birdbaths and a bench, all of which went towards creating a bird haven within the centre’s premises, which the youths can now enjoy every day. 

The Redpath team is looking forward to further involvement with the Thabang Child and Youth Care Centre in April, when the company will donate various items – which the centre is in dire need of. 

Redpath Mining, Northam Zondereinde project coordinator Mariaan Scheepers said: “Redpath strongly believes in community involvement and outreach programmes.

We aim to take an active role in supporting as many local social programmes as possible, in the area in which the company operates.”
