SIYANDA BAKGATLA PLATINUM MINE INVESTING IN COMMUNITIES

As part of Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine’s (SBPM) Social and Labour Plans to promote development and investment in its host communities, they donated various items to the Department of Health and the North West Department of Education on 4 October at the Union Mine Recreation Club.

SBPM sponsored an ambulance and medical equipment to the Department of Health. They also sponsored learning and teaching material to the Department of Education.

Dignitaries of the event included Thabazimbi Local Municipality Mayor Midah Moselane, Moses Kotane Local Municipality Mayor Ralesole Diale and Baphalane Ba Mantserre representatives. Guests were heartily welcomed by Senior Human Resource Manager of SBPM Benjamin Mokoka and General Manager of SBPM Mohau Molefi.

District Director of the Department of Health Motsamai Moloi wholeheartedly thanked
SBPM for the donations – especially the ambulance. To date, this is the second ambulance they received from SBPM.

“The availability of emergency transport is one of the key elements needed to successfully run a clinic. The ambulances are active in the Moses Kotane’s sub-District Department of Health,” said Moloi.

The learning and teaching support material SBPM handed over to the Department of Education will enhance the quality of learning and teaching for local students and teachers alike.

The ceremony, attended by SBPM representatives, Stakeholders, Traditional Leaders, Governmental Authorities and the Community, was that of a festive and cheerful occasion. SBPM aims to, in collaboration with its stakeholders, bring forth sustainable development in its communities – through upgrade of infrastructure, skills development, health, social welfare, job creation and enterprise development.

Acting Chief Executive Officer at Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela Investment Holdings Morena Kagiso Pilane reiterated that he is honoured to be part of the community upliftment project of SBPM. “Every time we take a step forward, it is a step forward for our communities.”
