‘Lady of the night’ stabbed to death

Northam – A murder suspect appeared before court on Monday, 23 April, in connection with the fatal stabbing of a female alleged to be a prostitute. Her body was found in Botha Street, Northam.

The woman was stabbed in the early hours of Friday, 20 April. The suspect allegedly ran to the police station after he stabbed her to report that he had just been robbed. The police accompanied the suspect to the scene of the alleged robbery where they  discovered the body of a fatally wounded woman.

Upon further investigation, policeofficers found the murder weapon as well as illegal substances in the suspect’s car. The suspect was arrested on the spot and his car was impounded.

Platinum Bushvelder went to the scene of the murder and spoke to Susan Collins. The murder was committed in front of her house. “We heard nothing! My husband only woke up when the police arrived at the scene. That was when we heard the shocking news that someone was murdered while we were sleeping!” Collins said. Collins also pointed out to Platinum Bushvelder where the body was found with the blood that was spilled, clearly visible.The name of the diseased is not yet released as the police need to notify her relatives.
