IT’S IDP AND BUDGET TIME FOR LIMPOPO COMMUNITIES

Thabazimbi – The Thabazimbi Local Municipality’s (TLM) 2018/19 IDP and budget public participation roadshow is in full swing.

The roadshow kicked off at the Rooiberg community hall following similar events at Raphuti in ward 4, Regorogile ward 9, 10 and 12.

A barrage of burning issues such as electricity, water interruptions, potholes, sewage and illegal dumping were the subject of engagements which mayor of Thabazimbi local municipality (TLM), Midah Moselane. She sees this engagement as necessary for dialogue between community members and their elected political representatives.

“This is a basis for sustained dialogue between government and people and a mechanism for fact-finding by government to align services with the needs of the people. Government has introduced a variety of platforms in an effort to consolidate, monitor and respond swiftly to public concerns – and this is just one of them,” mayor Moselane said.

She said the municipality is using these activities in all wards as a unique participatory platform given its ability to foster active participatory and meaningful dialogue between council and communities.
