Should high school learners be allowed to use cellphones during school hours?
Although cellphones can be useful for research, communication and emergencies, they may also distract learners and disrupt lessons. Should high schools allow cellphone use during school hours, or should devices remain switched off and safely stored?
“No. Learners from disadvantaged families may feel pressured to keep up with classmates who have cellphones. This can place an extra burden on them and shift their focus away from their studies.”
