Northam, 6500 jobs over the next 5 years

Northam – Northam Platinum currently employs 12 000 people, including contractors. It is spending R5.5billion on strategically timed growth. About 6,500 people stand to be employed within the next four to five years. 

Booysendal North is running at full capacity while 3000 new permanent jobs are on its way for Booysendal South. The newly acquired Tumela Block has already created an additional 357 jobs and more jobs are on the way at Zondereinde Mine. If the company does decide to restart the recently acquired Eland Mine in Brits another 3000 jobs will be created by the company.

Said Paul Dunne, chief executive officer (CEO) of Northam Platinum: “Booysendal North is already running at full capacity but the company will definitely be employing more people at all of our operations within the next four to five years.”
