Thabazimbi Business Chamber AGM well attended

Thabazimbi – On Wednesday, 31 January, business owners in town gathered at the KunsteGrot for the annual general meeting (AGM) of the Thabazimbi Business Chamber. The meeting was well-attended with over 60 delegates putting time aside to review the year gone by and vote for a new management team for the year ahead. 


Special guests included: George Ramagaga, newly appointed municipal manager at Thabazimbi Local Municipality and members of his executive team; Mike Mabasa, chief executive officer at Godisang Trust; Bafana Motheng, chairperson of Business Unity Thabazimbi; and Sipho Zulu, chairperson of the Thabazimbi Tourism Association. 


Jacques Blaauw, outgoing chairperson of the Thabazimbi Business Chamber, highlighted the need for ‘new brooms’ to sweep the recent history clean. 


The Thabazimbi Business Chamber membership had a chance to listen and reflect on the 2017 management scorecard, received feedback on the chamber’s financial position and engaged on the way forward with the Eskom legal case. All the proposed resolutions presented to the members were adopted by majority vote, including a decision to continue with legal steps against Eskom, if required.


The voting process for the 2018 Thabazimbi Business Chamber Management Team was also completed with a total of 648 votes by 48 member businesses cast. The 2018 management team is (in alphabetical order):

The new chairperson, vice-chairperson and treasurer for the 2018 term will be selected soon. The outgoing Thabazimbi Business Chamber management team wishes to thank every member for their commitment to the organisation and hope to see their continued support in shaping the “big voice for small business” in Thabazimbi.
