New loveLife Trust promoting healthy living

Thabazimbi – As part of New loveLife Trust’s community outreach to promote healthy, HIV-free living among South African teens, the team handed out condoms in Thabazimbi, Ipelegeng, Regorogile, Rooiberg and Northam on Wednesday 6 October. 

They have three centres (based in Thabazimbi, Northam and Rooiberg) and the team consists of 32 young people, 12 ground breakers and 20 people who are part of the mpintshi programme.

Based on their cardinal pillars – active-lifestyle, healthy-lifestyle and youth leadership development – they offer various programmes to empower the youth and their primary implements are responsible for conducting health talks on various subjects such as mental health, sexually transmitted diseases and infections, condoms, gender-based violence and substance abuse. They also do screening at their local clinics. 

In addition, they have an in-house counsellor to assist those without identity cards, child headed homes and victims of gender-based violence by referring them to professionals who can help.
