Farmer helps in arrest of 3 farm attackers, in chase on dirt road

Bela-Bela – The Police in Bela-Bela arrested three armed suspects who were involved in a farm attack at BK Boerdery in the Roodekuil area on Sunday, 26 November at 16h00 the afternoon. 

According to lieutenant colonel Moatshe’ Ngoepe, police spokesperson, eight armed suspects, travelling in two vehicles, made their way to the farm house, broke in and tied up three individuals in the house. 
Several items including firearms, cash, jewellery, computers, cell phones and electrical appliances were stolen. 

A farmer noticed the suspects and gave chase along the Roodekuil gravel road. The suspects opened fire on the farmer, who shot back and injured one of the suspects. The Police, who were notified, later located two of the suspects in the veld next to the Platrivier shop where some of the stolen items were recovered. 

The suspects, aged between 25 and 37, appeared before the Bela-Bela Magistrates’ Court on charges of house robbery and attempted murder. Investigations continue.
