STOP ILLEGAL DUMPING! [Letter to the editor]

Thabazimbi – Thabazimbi is a beautiful town in the heart of the bushveld, with alluring scenic landscapes and breath-taking views. Unfortunately, our town also has a big eye sore, trash being dumped illegally, blemishing our town like you will not believe. One of the biggest problem areas being Extension 18, which has become a dumping area for several residents and businesses in Thabazimbi. Luckily, there is ‘n silver lining around this dark and unpleasant cloud of trash; our community has joined hands in an endeavour to clean Extension 18 and making a big effort to stop the illegal dumping in this area. 

RealNet Bosveld’s Leon Oosthuizen has launched this clean-up action with the help of Adams and Neilsen, the developers of Extension 18. Other members of the community who are helping to make a success of this project is Koos Kok from Dial a Drum, Amri Schlebusch from Busch Boerdery, Albert and Heinie Rohrbeck, Draadwerf and Tokkie Swanepoel who arranged the assistance of Tree for 2. If we did not have the support of our community, this endeavour would not be achievable. We really appreciate your commitment to this clean-up action. The TLB used to clear the roads and load all the rubble onto the truck, is sponsored by Draadwerf.  

Fines have been issued for illegal dumpers and several guilty parties have already been sent back to the scene of the crime to collect their trash and remove it. We can also use your support in the form of donations. We need NO DUMPING sign boards to put up in the area, labourers to assist with the clean-up process, food, or wages for the labourers, etc. Anyone who would like to make a donation of any kind can contact Leon. This is an ongoing project as we need to prevent illegal dumping on a permanent basis. Extension 18 is a residential part of our town and should be treated like any other part of our town and kept clean.
