When will it getbetter?

Northam – For the past two years, the Northam Rate Payers Association (NRPA) has been pleading with the Thabazimbi Local Municipality (TLM) to repair the roads of Northam.

These efforts have been futile and over this period very little has changed. Most of the streetlights are still not working and the state of the roads is getting worse. 

TLM’s Northam satellite manager Malakia Dire is working hard to maintain consistency but without the necessary tools and equipment it is impossible to do the job.

Promises were made by TLM at the integrated development planning meeting in Northam in November 2019. The promises are yet to be fulfilled. 

“The roads are very dangerous, especially at night. You can’t even avoid the potholes because you can’t see them without the streetlights. Countless cars have been damaged due the horrible state of our roads,” a concerned Northam community member told Platinum Bushvelder.

A meeting was held on Monday 20 January by the NRPA to discuss the year plan for Northam.
During the deliberations, NRPA chairperson David Gouveia called for an urgent follow-up meeting with the TLM municipal manager to resolve the issues. 

“TLM has been neglecting Northam for years now and this must stop,” said Gouveia.
The NRPA will be in constant correspondence with Dire, who will give prompt feedback regarding the service delivery issues.

Gouveia would like to call on the community to stand together to make Northam a better place.
