WEAR SUNSCREEN

“Wear sunscreen. If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it. The long-term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.” Everybody’s free (to wear sunscreen) – Baz Luhrmann.

As the warmer days are fast approaching, it is the perfect time to start bathing in the sun and shake off the winter cold.
When preparing for fun in the sun with family, or your next outdoor adventure, make sure you pack sunscreen.

The continuously depleting ozone layer has put us at a higher risk of getting affected from the harmful rays of the sun.

While you do need the sun for your daily dose of Vitamin D, that does not mean you should put your health at risk! Applying sunscreen actually blocks these harmful rays from penetrating the skin and triggering skin disorders.

Weather can be deceiving, sunny or chilly, rainy or overcast, the sun is continously sending harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays to the earth. It is best to use a sunscreen that has a sun protection factor (SPF) of between 20 and 50, and broad-spectrum protection against harmful UVA and UVB rays, preventing premature ageing and lowering your risk of skin cancer.

With the options like sprays and moisturisers that contain SPF, applying sunscreen is more convenient than ever. So next time you go to pick up the ice for your pool party grab a bottle of sunscreen and protect yourself from the harmful rays of the African sun.
