A GREEN STEEL HEART

Thabazimbi – Ankebe Els, a local finalist for Miss Teen Eco South Africa 2019, will be competing in this beauty pageant on Saturday 12 October for the opportunity to represent South Africa in Egypt next year. 

As a finalist, Ankebe must establish eco projects as part of the competition’s duties to show her understanding of green living and how to protect the environment. Ankebe initiated her own project, called Projek Herwin, at Hoërskool Frikkie Meyer.

A large heart-shaped steel structure and painted dustbins were erected and kids can easily fill it with cans for recycling.
