new service provider  for Skierlik informal settlement

Skierlik – Thabazimbi Local Municipality (TLM) mayor councillor John Michael Fischer, council speaker Bertie Joubert, chief whip councillor Piet Strydom, ward councillor Rachel Mokwena and TLM officials, CoGHSTA and Housing Development Agency (HDA) representatives gathered at Skierlik to introduce Ditsamai Investments & Projects, a new service provider appointed, on 1 March. 

The service provider was appointed by HDA to formalise Skierlik informal Settlement, a township establishment, located on Portion 8 of the Farm Groenvley 87 KQ within the jurisdiction of TLM. 

To date, there are approximately 350 households in Skierlik. TLM provides water on a daily basis through a borehole. There are two primary schools and a secondary school. The informal settlement also has electrified.

TLM mayor Fischer made an appeal to HDA, CoGHSTA and Ditsamai Investments & Projects to speed up the development of the informal settlement, and emphasised that the service provider must work together with Skierlik community.

Ditsamai Investments & Projects has been given an 18-month contract for the township establishment process.
