Community comes together to clean up local cemeteries

Thabazimbi/ Northam – On Monday, 3 March 2025, dedicated members of Thaba Fire and Rescue (TFR) took the initiative to start cleaning up the Thabazimbi Cemetery. Their hard work soon gained momentum when, on Tuesday, 4 March 2025, members of the Thabazimbi Local Municipality (TLM) joined in, focusing on trimming the overgrown grass. 

Together, TFR and TLM teams worked tirelessly until Thursday, 6 March 2025, clearing waste and ensuring the cemetery looked neat and well-maintained.

Meanwhile, on the same Tuesday, another team from TFR extended their efforts to the Northam Cemetery, where they also tackled cleaning duties. Their dedication paid off, and by Thursday, 6 March 2025, the Northam Cemetery had received a much-needed transformation as well.

TFR extends a heartfelt thank you to TLM for their valuable assistance in cutting the grass and maintaining these sacred spaces. The effort demonstrated the power of teamwork and community spirit in preserving the dignity of these final resting places.

A special acknowledgment goes to the following TFR members who played a vital role in the cleanup operations at both the Thabazimbi and Northam cemeteries: Angelique Loots, Pierre Loots, Mione de Witt, Corrie Prinsloo, and Jannie Rossouw.
