HOME, HEART, AND HOPE Thabazimbi rallies behind shelter kids

Thabazimbi – How do you say thank you for a miracle? Beverley Spira Kühn, board member of the Thabazimbi Homeless Shelter, is overwhelmed with gratitude for the outpouring of community support that has given ten shelter children the opportunity to attend school and daycare.

“We cannot express enough thanks to every single person who made it possible for our kids to go to school. Hoërskool Frikkie Meyer, Laerskool Thabazimbi, Spitskop Special Needs School, and Wippie en Snippie – thank you for welcoming our children with open arms. Your kindness and assistance mean the world to us. To show our appreciation, the parents have promised to lend a hand at school events as a way of paying it forward.”

Community spirit has shone brightly in Thabazimbi, with many individuals stepping forward to help. “A special thank you to Danie and Karin from the Voortrekkers for visiting us and helping our kids join your incredible group. What an honour! To the wonderful people of Matlabas and every person who, without seeking recognition, bought essentials like T-shirts, school socks, and shoes – your generosity has left us in awe. The cost of schooling is far greater than we ever imagined, and your kindness has made a real difference.”

Beverley shares that the children are thriving. “All ten of them are excited to be in school and are determined to do their best. We are privileged to be part of this community – it’s not always easy, but we wouldn’t change it for the world. Working for God is an incredible honour, and we witness miracles every day.
