Northam Rhinos dominate in Gold Cup 

Setaria – The Northam Rhinos Rugby Club showcased their skills and determination on Saturday 16 September 2023, at their home grounds, Bushveld Park in Setaria. The team squared off against the formidable Sasol Rip & Grip Secunda Rugby Club in an intense match of the African Rainbow Community Gold Cup league. Dominating their opponents, the Rhinos secured a significant win with an impressive score of 69-8. Flip de Kock, the chairperson of the Northam Rhinos’ Rugby Club, remarked, “At halftime, the scoreboard read 21-3 in our favour. We faced challenges at the onset but rallied in the second half to seize the victory.”

Warren Williams, the try-scoring machine, recorded another hat-trick, while PJ Bezuidenhout contributed 17 points. Kwezi Mkhafu, as always, scored a double try, and the Van der Merwe brothers collectively scored three tries: Maverick with two and Mitchell with one. Percy Williams and Luxolo Abraham also added tries to the tally. With this impressive win, the Northam Rhinos have solidified their place in the quarterfinals of the African Rainbow Gold Cup League. They are scheduled to compete against the Progress Rugby Club from the Eastern Province on Saturday 23 September 2023. Best wishes to the team!
