A mountain to climb for Chiefs
SA – Kaizer Chiefs will be under immense pressure to win their upcoming DStv Premier Soccer League (PSL) match against Chippa United on Thursday 27 April 2023.
Chiefs, who lost 1-0 to Sekhukhune United on 23 April, have fallen behind in the race for second place with SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates who seem more likely to clinch the position.
With just four matches to go before the end of the season, Chiefs find themselves fourth on the log and coach Arthur Zwane will be looking for a more positive result this time around.
It’s a nervous time for Chiefs and their supporters, who will soon come up against Pirates in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup.
If they lose to Pirates, Chiefs will be eliminated from the cup competition—the result meaning that they would have gone for eight seasons without winning any silverware.
For now, however, Zwane’s charges will be focusing on winning their match against the Chippa United team that could prove a very tough nut to crack.
Chippa, who are 15th on the log, are looking to avoid being relegated to the lower league and a victory for them at the expense of Chiefs will greatly enhance their cause. Chippa are desperate for a win, which makes them a dangerous team to contend with.
They will be playing in the familiar surroundings of their home ground at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, making Chipa even more difficult to defeat.
