Amandelbult Soccer Tournament was a win-win

The friendly soccer tournament held at the Amandelbult Recreation Club on Saturday 6 August was a great way for colleagues and other local stakeholders to interact on a level that is not work related.     

Five Amandelbult Complex clubs – the Tumela Lower Shiffies, Amandelbult Masters, Amandelbult Concentrator, 15-East and Tumela Lower Services – proved their mettle and sportsmanship on the field. 

The teams and supporters from Thabazimbi Local Municipality (TLM), SIMA Concentrator and Siyanda Bakgatla Concentrator heated the competition. 

The games, which kicked off at 10:00, were contested on a knockout basis to decide the four teams that would progress to the semi-finals.   

Amandelbult Concentrator started off well by defeating Siyanda 2-1 in the opening match of the tournament. SIMA Concentrator defeated Tumela Lower Shiffies 5-3 while TLM emerged as winners with a score of 7-3 over Tumela Lower Services.  Amandelbult Masters suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of 15 East to complete the knockout matches. 

In the semi-finals, 15-East suffered a 2-1 defeat against TLM while Amandelbult Concentrator achieved a 5-2 win over SIMA Concentrator. The final was closely contested with TLM managing a 2-1 victory over a very strong Amandelbult Concentrator team.
