Alleged child rapist’s bail hearing on 19 Feb 

Thabazimbi – Letlhake Lebogang (21) stands on trial for two counts of rape, kidnapping and pointing a firearm. 

According to police spokesperson constable Titus Khumalo, a 13- and 16-year-old were raped on 1 January. Lebogang was arrested later that same day. 

Lebogang appeared before the Thabazimbi Magistrates’ Court on 10 January. The case was postponed to 19 January for bail application – which was denied. Lebogang will formally apply for bail on Thursday 17 February. 

Investigations continue. 

Constable Khumalo urged: “I implore the community to be whistle blowers and report these types of crimes to the police immediately.”
