Another five lives  lost on the R510

Northam – On a weekly basis, the lives of people and their loved ones are destroyed on the R510. The major cause of the carnage on this road is reckless overtaking. 

Northam Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after five people passed away in a gruesome accident on the R510, outside Northam on Monday 16 August. A Toyota Corolla, traveling in the direction of Thabazimbi collided head-on with a Toyota Quantum. 

Four of the five occupants of the Corolla were declared dead on the scene and ‘jaws of life’ had to be used to retrieve their bodies. The fifth occupant passed away on the way to hospital.

According to Trauma Rescue who responded to the scene, three of the nine passengers traveling in the quantum sustained serious injuries and the other six escaped with moderate injuries.
