Vehicle ploughs through graves

Northam – The Thabazimbi Local Municipality (TLM) is appealing to community members who buried their loved ones at Northam cemetery to verify if their tombstones are amongst those damaged on Saturday 12 December. 

Several tombstones and graves were damaged when a black Ford Ranger, registered in Gauteng province, crashed through the cemetery fence before ploughing into the graves. According to TLM, the four female occupants of the vehicle fled the scene immediately after the incident and police are investigating the matter. At this stage, the cause of the accident is not clear.
