Two toddlers and a baby perish in fire

Northam – Moments after a mother left her children to buy food at a nearby shop, she received news that her home was on fire. The distraught mother ran back only to find the structure engulfed in flames. The incident occurred in Northam on Saturday morning at around 8:00 on 21 November. Two toddlers and a baby were killed in the fire.

The community summoned the police, firefighters, and emergency services to the scene. They identified the deceased children as five-month-old Sinenhlahla Tsotetsi and two-year-olds Jabulane Tsotetsi, and Katlego Mogale. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

Expressing her shock and sadness after receiving news of the incident, acting provincial commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo major general Christine Morakaladi urged parents to not leave their children unattended. TLM's councillors and mayor, cllr John Michael Fischer attended the funeral in Smashblock on Thursday 27 November.
