Preparing for a second wave

Thabazimbi – Limpopo member of the executive council (MEC) for health Phophi Ramathuba received donations of medical equipment and consumables from various stakeholders on Monday 5 October. 


Anglo American Platinum’s Amandelbult Complex, Northam Zondereinde mine, Zondereinde Community Development Trust and Godisang Community Development Trust all played a role in the donation towards the Thabazimbi Provincial Hospital.


The donations include high-flow basal cannulas, beds and other furniture, patient monitors and equipment, thermometers and oximeters, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to help keep healthcare workers safe. The PPE will assist hospitals and clinics in the Thabazimbi area as they prepare for a possible second wave of COVID-19 infections.


These donations from corporate stakeholders in the Thabazimbi municipal area are a reflection of successful collaboration and strong bonds between stakeholders, local government and the health department. This goodwill spirit has been carried right from when President Cyril Ramaphosa declared a national state of disaster.
