Murder at old-age home

Polokwane – The police are investigating a case of murder and house robbery after the body of an elderly woman was discovered at Koraal Retirement Village in Polokwane on Monday 21 September.

A manhunt for the suspects linked with the murder of 80-year-old Jacoba Grobler has since been launched and the police are appealing to anyone who might have information regarding their whereabouts to come forward.

The suspects severely assaulted the woman - who stayed alone in a house in the complex – before killing her. “The victim’s body was found by her friend. Open wounds on the body suggested the suspects assaulted the deceased with a blunt object,” police spokesperson brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said.

A laptop and cellphone belonging to the deceased were missing and police believe these items were stolen by the suspects. Provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo lieutenant general Nneke Ledwaba condemned the incident.
