Farm attacker arrested six years after the murder

Thabazimbi – On Friday 31 July 2020, the sixth anniversary of the brutal murder of Christine Robinson, her suspected killer was finally arrested.

Christine was a British national living on a farm near Thabazimbi when she was attacked and murdered on 31 July 2014. She was stabbed several times before the murderer cut her throat. A 30-year old employee was suspected of the murder.

Ian Cameron, who was head of AfriForum community safety and the original investigating officer at the time, colonel Sakkie Louwrens who retired and is now part of Bosveld Misdaad Ondersoeke, visited the murder scene of Christine shortly after it happened in 2014.
Ian never gave up his pursuit to find the man who killed Christine and decided to share a photo of the suspect on social media. According to Ian, a member of the public contacted him and informed him that they recognised the attacker.

Further investigations indicated that he was currently residing in Johannesburg.

Ian relayed this information to Sakkie and the relevant members of the South African Police Service in Garsfontein. The suspected attacker was subsequently arrested and is currently in police custody.

“This violent attack in the Thabazimbi area was one of a few that went unsolved for the past few years. We are relieved that Christine’s suspected killer is finally behind bars,” said Sakkie.
