Thabazimbi – Democratic Alliance’s (DA) Herman Kgotlhang, who was sworn in as proportionate councillor for Thabazimbi Local Municipality (TLM), has pledged to work tirelessly towards improving the lives of community members.

Kgotlhang told Platinum Bushvelder about his plans to improve service delivery. “I will strive to support every person who wants to run their own business. Such an attitude leads to social and economic development.”

He underlined the importance of equipping everyone with knowledge about the proper local government channels to follow to receive assistance.

A familiar face, Kgotlhang grew up in Thabazimbi and attended Ysterberg Thabazimbi and Ratlhahana Pankop schools. Kgotlhang also boasts a 38-year career at Kumba Iron Ore Mine where he was employed as training officer, sports and recreation officer and engineering maintenance planner.

“My other objectives include planning sport and recreation activities for the youth as well as educating the community about the benefits of a clean environment.

I have also served on the school governing bodies of Laerskool Thabazimbi and Frikkie Meyer Hoërskool,” he said.

Kgotlhang, who assumed his position on Thursday 23 September, replaces proportional DA councillor Piet Strydom who sadly passed away recently.
