Bakkie and school bus collide

Thabazimbi – A bakkie towing a trailer collided with a school bus in front of Heuningvlei Primary School on Tuesday 30 March. An eyewitness told Platinum Bushvelder that the occupants of the bakkie sustained injuries and several learners only minor bruises.

Ian Bodenstein is op Dinsdag 23 Maart oorlede. Ian was van 2009 tot 2014 ‘n onderwyser by Hoërskool Frikkie Meyer en het in die handelsvak departement gewerk. Hy het in die senior fase besigheidsstudies gegee en EBW vir die juniors. Almal wat hom geken het sal hom onthou as ‘n positiewe persoon wat altyd reg was vir ‘n uitdaging. Hy was ‘n man wat bitterselde kwaad geword het en het altyd almal gemotiveer om in hulself te glo. Dit is ‘n groot verlies vir die hele Thabazimbi gemeenskap en ons innige meegevoel gaan uit na sy vriende en familie.

Inspiring the youth through soccer

Thabazimbi – Although plagued by personal challenges, Petrus Osekwang actively plays his part for the youth of Thabazimbi. He invests his time in enriching the lives of local youths. Osekwang started coaching local kids from 2017. He sits next to the field, every day, and coaches more than 60 kids from his wheelchair.

Thomas Venter, ‘n geliefde inwoner van Thabazimbi, is op Sondag 14 Maart oorlede. Hy was van 1993 tot 1998 adjunkhoof by Laerskool Thabazimbi en het vir ‘n tyd lank ook as hoof waargeneem. Hy los sy vrou Hannetjie Venter, seuns Gerhard, Ampie, en Tommy met hul vrouens en vyf kleinkinders agter. Hy was ‘n baie goeie, geduldige mens met ‘n sagte plek vir ander. Hy was altyd bereid om almal te help en was ‘n uitstekende eggenoot, pa, en oupa. Daar sal beslis ‘n leemte wees in die lewens van almal wat hom geken het.

Correctional services rising to the challenge

Thabazimbi – Due to a lack of water, the SASSA building in Thabazimbi was closed on Friday 12 March. Four departments which include SASSA, the Department of Social Development, Home Affairs and Thabazimbi Correctional Services share the building.
Members of the public that depend on their SASSA grants could not access their services for the day. In response, Thabazimbi Correctional Services members made a plan, by providing the facility with bottled water.
