Bribery on the R510: officer busted — but tipped off?

Thabazimbi/ Rustenburg – A local driver recently faced a shocking encounter on the R510 near Sandfontein, as previously reported on in Platinum Bushvelder newspaper. Pulled over by a traffic officer while en route to Thabazimbi from Rustenburg, the driver was accused of overloading and told to pay a R1,500 bribe to get his license back.

Northam – Two suspects were arrested in separate incidents during a targeted Vhuthu Hawe operation in Northam on Saturday, 22 March 2025. The suspects, aged 27 and 31, were nabbed for possession of dagga and dealing in illicit cigarettes respectively, following a sharp-eyed police operation led by the Lephalale K9 Dog Unit.
