Northam – Station commander of the South African Police Station (SAPS) Northam, lieutenant colonel Jeffrey Ramatsitsi relayed a powerful message to the community during an interview with Platinum Bushvelder on 6 December.

“We want our community and visitors to Northam to feel safe and protected during the upcoming festive season. I urge people to be responsible on the roads and not drink and drive to avoid accidents or fatalities.

“We aim to stop crime, violence against women and children and any illegal activities that may occur. In order for us to do so, we need the public to report any crimes or suspicious behaviour. We are here to serve and protect our community.

“I request the community to respect law enforcement, members of the Youth Cops, CPF and the Heritage Protection Group (HPG). These groups are available around the clock in the fight against crime.

“I would also like to wish the community a blissful Christmas; enjoy yourself responsibly, have a good time this festive season, and may you all have a prosperous 2019!”
