Thabazimbi – The deadline for the submission of inputs and comments to the Thabazimbi Local Municipality’s Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and Budget is set for Friday, 11 May at 16h30.

In what is considered the last and final leg of the TLM’s IDP and Budget 2018/19 roadshow, the representative forum met at Kumba Cinema Hall on 3 May to discuss the projects and budget for the 2018/19 financial year.

The meeting was attended by stakeholders, sector departments, business sectors and councillors.
Municipal Manager, George Ramagaga, explained that the IDP representative forum is one of the structures that is utilised to enable local communities to participate in the affairs of the municipality.

The meeting was the last and final leg of the IDP representative forum before the final adoption of the IDP and budget due to take place at the end of May 2018. It is also procedurally the culmination of TLM’s public participation activities prior to the start of the new financial year on 1 July 2018.

In her closing remarks, mayor Midah Moselane highlighted the importance of the relationship between the municipality, government and community members, saying that the government should consult and involve the community in discussions regarding its projects and programmes, which may directly affect them.

She said consultations help municipalities make more appropriate decisions based on the real needs of the people. The more informed people are, the better they will understand what the government does and what the budget and resource limitations are.

“We cannot address all the developmental needs on our own and therefore, partnerships are needed with other spheres of government, communities, civil society and business,” concluded Moselane.

Submission for inputs and comments before the Friday, 16h30 deadline, can be forwarded to Lena Monawa-Lesotho at
