It’s a manhole, not a trash can!

Thabazimbi – Residents are urged to stop dumping waste into municipal manholes in Extension 6, following yet another incident where the cover was lifted and rubbish thrown inside. Despite recent municipal cleaning efforts, the manhole was quickly re-contaminated — posing serious health risks and threatening to block the drainage system, leading to possible sewage overflows.

The office of the mayor issued a public alert on 20 June 2025, condemning the act and reminding residents that illegal dumping damages infrastructure and harms the environment. Residents are encouraged to report anyone seen engaging in this behaviour to the authorities or their ward councillor.
