The Future of Conservation Belongs to Our Youth

Thabazimbi – WRSA (Wildlife Ranching South Africa) Thabazimbi is teaming up with Thaba Tholo and Hoërskool Frikkie Meyer to offer a truly unforgettable hands-on rhino conservation experience — all in support of wildlife protection and education.

As part of this collaboration, an online auction was launched on Thursday, 24 June 2025, through All Asset Auctions, giving one highest bidder and a companion the chance to participate in a once-in-a-lifetime rhino darting experience. The winner will accompany the conservation team at Thaba Tholo during Rhino Week (14–17 July), taking part in DNA sampling, touching and feeling a real rhino, and even enjoying a short helicopter ride over the breathtaking wildlife area. A light lunch is included, but the real reward is the impact — every bid supports education and conservation efforts.

On Monday, 23 June 2025, Hoërskool Frikkie Meyer had a surprise visit from none other than Oscar the Rhino, WRSA Thabazimbi’s plush mascot and conservation champion. Jenny Rossouw, Chairperson of WRSA Thabazimbi, joined the visit and emphasized the vital role today’s youth play in shaping tomorrow’s conservation success stories.

Oscar the Rhino also visited Laerskool van Wykskraal on 24 June, continuing his mission to spread awareness and inspire young minds.
