MEET THE NEW MAYOR

Thabazimbi – John Michael Fischer was officially inaugurated as Thabazimbi Local Municipality’s (TLM) new mayor on 7 December. 

Mayor Fischer was born and raised in Thabazimbi and has a long history with the municipality including being the driver of a former mayor. He is the spokesperson for the Thabazimbi Resident’s Association (TRA) and the proud father of three.

In an interview with Platinum Bushvelder, mayor Fischer said: “First and foremost, we will focus on service delivery. We need people in our office that are dedicated to serving the community.”

Water interruptions is still a big problem in Thabazimbi and surrounds. The mayor indicated that it will be addressed shortly. “Maleka Motollong, our new chief financial officer, was appointed to advise in this process,” the mayor added. 

The mayor acknowledges that unemployment is still a cause for concern in Thabazimbi but looks forward to see how the people of Thabazimbi, especially the youth, are going to improve their situation through entrepreneurship and innovative thinking.
